Coldstream Hills was established in 1985 by James and Suzanne Halliday and has since grown to become one of Australia's leading and most awarded small wineries.

Sourced predominantly from hillside vineyards in the cool Upper Yarra, the fruit was gently pressed and unlike previous years, almost forty percent was barrel fermented in older French oak barriques and puncheons. A small quantity of Semillon from the Lower Yarra was used to add complexity and texture to the wine.

The resultant wine is a blend of small batches that were either fermented in stainless steel using cultured yeast strains or fermented wild in barrel. All parcels were held on fine lees for six months prior to blending and bottling.

Situated in the picturesque Yarra Valley east of Melbourne, the steep close planted vineyards of Coldstream Hills have become a signature of the region. So too have its wines, which reflect regional character, consistency and style.

Pale straw with green tints. Attractive citrus characters of grapefruit and lemon pith with underlying quince and stonefruit dominate the bouquet. Toasty oak with grilled nut barrel fermentation characters provide additional complexity to the wine.

Coldstream Hills Yarra Valley Pinot Noir is sourced from low yielding vineyards in the Lower and Upper Yarra Valley, all fruit is selectively handpicked prior to its delivery into the winery.

Medium red with a purple hue. Attractive varietal fruit characters of cherry and raspberry are evident with underlying gaminess and spice. Toasty oak adds further complexity to the wine's bouquet, but does not dominate. Medium bodied in style with silky texture and length. Cherry and plum fruit characters dominate the palate with underlying gaminess and spice.
