The colour is bright, straw with golden, green hues. The bouquet is preserved lemons and apricots with orange rind botrytis characters complimented by hints of vanilla. The palate is intense preserved lemons and apricot fruit which tantalise the taste buds. A smooth viscosity with a textural length ensures the palate is complete. The structure of this wine is definitely leaning towards freshness rather than lusciousness.
An outstanding example of high quality Botrytis Semillon produced from the Riverina grape growing region of NSW.
Regular, systematic inspections of individual vineyards of Shiraz grapes with long standing track records of outstanding quality, consistency and character enabled Gramps to pinpoint optimal harvest dates.
A classic Australian Shiraz style, demonstrating the benefits of careful fruit selection combined with traditional winemaking techniques, to produce a wine of great power and character. Bursting with fruit and stylish oak, this wine maybe enjoyed now, although we suggest you put some away in a quiet place for a few years and enjoy the additional complexities which can be achieved by careful cellaring.
The colour in Gramps Cabernet Merlot is deep red with purple hues. The bouquet combines the rich and powerful flavours of ripe berries and blackcurrant from Cabernet Sauvignon which are balanced with fresh mulberry and spice from the Merlot. Stylish, well integrated oak provides added complexity. The palate is an intensely flavoured, full bodied wine, with rich and complex fruit characters showing nuances of both varieties.
Structured for longevity, this wine has masses of flavour which will delight those who enjoy primary fruit characters and choose to drink it now, yet will go the distance if carefully cellared for 10 or more years.
