The Durif grape variety was developed by a French nurseryman breeder, Dr. Durif, it is a hybrid form of the Shiraz grape crossed with the peloursin grape variety. The Durif variety was grown in the lower Hermitage area of France.
The colour is deep red with vibrant purple overtones. The bouquet displays ripe spicy fruit of plum and violets complexed with integrated oak. This full bodied wine with rich generous plum fruit flavours integrated with fruit and oak tannins providing texture and structure with a great flavour persistence. A wine typical of the Morris Durif style, full bodied with rich flavours and mouth feel. This wine is enjoyable young with rich fruit concentration but does show all the hallmarks to cellar well for many years to come.
Ideal vineyard conditions and gentle handling in the winery are essential to produce really good pinot. Pinot Noir is medium bodied with soft berry fruit, earthy tones, savoury characters, complexity, structure, length and balance.
The De Bortoli Gulf Station Yarra Valley Pinot Noir shows complex red and dark berry aromas with underlying earth and forest floor characters. Medium bodied with intense berry and spice flavours, texture, length and balance.
Tamar Valley is near Launceston in Northern Tasmania. Heemskerk was an integral player in developing Tasmania's wine industry, long before the island reached its current state of popularity. Graham Wiltshire established the Heemskerk vineyard in 1975 and today the label looks a little further afield, making wines that reflect some of Tasmania's best vineyard sites.
A Medium core with a bright purple rim. Rustic and classic with bright red cherry aromas, cinnamon spice, delicate florals and subtle soy lying underneath. Structural and grippy with firm dusty tannins, cherry stone texture and talcum-like acidity. Subtle oak influence sits in the background giving the wine freshness, lift and depth of flavour.

“The Bandit” was Western Australian Monndyne Joe, who earnt notoriety for his elaborately planned jailbreaking.. Moondyne’s good taste was to be his undoing. His final capture occurred when he broke into the Houghton winery in 1869. The Bandit wines are daring blends of tremendous character which immortalise the legend.
