The Yalumba Y Series of quality wines salutes our proud history of viticulture and winemaking in South Australia. Significantly, the individual icons on each label reflect the labours, inventive thinking and aspirations of all at Yalumba. This Merlot depicts the winery dog. It could be a Flash, a Nugget or an Archie type dog. With its wet nose, soft fur and sparkling, clear eyes, the dog is a reminder of loyal and long term relationships, a hallmark of the Yalumba culture.
Tempranillo is an innovative varietal for Brown Brothers that is now being released nationally for the third time due to its great success at Cellar Door. The wine has been developed in the Brown Brothers 'Kindergarten Winery' - a mini winery focused on trialling small batches of new varieties and different wine making techniques.
In the glass this wine is a bright crimson red with aromas of dark berries and integrated fruit and oak. These characters follow through to the palate which has savoury characters and very fine tannins. The 2009 Tempranillo is an elegant, medium bodied style of wine that can be enjoyed now or cellared in the short-term for further development.
Tempranillo, a traditional and widely grown variety from Spain, is proving to be well suited to many regions in Australia. As is also happening in Spain, in Australia there are many contemporary styles of wines being made from the variety - fresh, juicy and vibrant. Fermentation with yeasts indigenous to the vineyard was followed by maturation in mature oak barrels.
The Running with Bulls Barossa Tempranillo is sourced from multiple growers in the western ranges of the Barossa, through to the valley floor and into the Penrice region. This provides a great range of aroma and flavour profiles, creating an interesting and varietal Barossa Tempranillo. Fermentation with yeasts indigenous to the vineyards was followed by malolactic fermentation and maturation in mature oak barrels. There aim has been to showcase the stylish fruit flavours and lovely tannins of Tempranillo and for the oak to only have a very subtle influence.
The Annie's Lane Shiraz is vibrant red with deep purple hues. Aromas of cassis and spearmint lift from the glass while the palate is rich with red plums, black olives and rasberries, balanced by subtle oak flavours with hints of chocolate and dried spices.
In this release of the Goundrey G Cabernet Tempranillo. The vintage sees the combination of the juicy and elegant character contributed by the Cabernet Sauvignon merge with the structural and savoury influences of the Tempranillo. The two varieties complement each other to make an exciting and different wine for the Goundrey portfolio. An ideal food wine.
Intense red with a purple hue, this wine displays lifted cassis and blackberry, with hints of black cherry, dark spice and black olives.
Selected vineyard parcels were harvested and gently pressed to extract the finest quality juice. A combination of stainless steel and barrel fermentation in French oak has provided a wine of freshness and complexity.
Pale straw with tinges of green and gold, this wine displays aromas of melon, nectarine and cashew nuances derived from French oak fermentation.
Medium straw in colour, this wine displays intense aromas of spice, fresh white peach and preserved lemon. Toasty oak with a hint of buttery richness will feature in the wine whilst it is young.
This Chardonnay exhibits a smooth, delicate palate with a mineral lemony acidity, and also shows flavours of stone fruit and grapefruit, interplaying on the palate with creamy toast characters. The wine is integrated and seamless with a crisp acid finish which gives a juicy character to the wine.
