This Chardonnay, grown on Mudgee’s high altitude climate and ancient red-brownearth, was produced in our modern winery with the best of traditional winemaking techniques – giving an aromatic and fruit-driven wine with structure and minerality at the core.
Numerous individual parcels of chardonnay grapes were night-harvested from the family’s wide-ranging Mudgee vineyards and fermented at cool temperatures to retainaroma and flavour. A variety of traditional winemaking regimes were employed to produce a complex, yet fruit driven style.
The Shingleback Vineyard is located in the Willunga Basin at the southern end of the acclaimed McLaren Vale Wine Region. Brothers Kym and John Davey planted their vineyard on land that the family has owned since 1959. This site is dedicated to producing high quality, intensely coloured and flavoured grapes, using innovative canopy management and progressive viticultural techniques.
This region has a Mediterranean climate with wet winters, dry summers and plenty of sunshine. The proximity to the St. Vincent Gulf, coincidentally named after the patron saint of winemakers, benefits fruit quality with warmer spring and autumn conditions and cooler summers. McLaren Vale is renowned as a premium wine region of great beauty that consistently produces high quality, richly flavoured wines.
Selected vineyard parcels were harvested and gently pressed to extract the finest quality juice. A combination of stainless steel and barrel fermentation in French oak has provided a wine of freshness and complexity.
Pale straw with tinges of green and gold, this wine displays aromas of melon, nectarine and cashew nuances derived from French oak fermentation.
Situated in the picturesque Yarra Valley east of Melbourne, the steep close planted vineyards of Coldstream Hills have become a signature of the region. So too have its wines, which reflect regional character, consistency and style.
Pale straw with green tints. Attractive citrus characters of grapefruit and lemon pith with underlying quince and stonefruit dominate the bouquet. Toasty oak with grilled nut barrel fermentation characters provide additional complexity to the wine.
Fruit for the Heemskerk Chardonnay is sourced from Tolpuddle vineyard in the Coal River Valley. It's a north-east facing site with 19 year old vines on the upper slope of the vineyard. The fruit is hand picked before being whole bunch pressed, with fermentation taking place in 100% French oak barrels.
Elegant, pure, textured and concentrated. Flavours of creamy, spicy oak are balanced with fruity notes of guava, toasted nuts and peach stone, which are carried by an intense textured quality.
