The Awatere Valley of Marlborough has a unique character, shaped by the strong costal winds, low rainfall, intense sunshine and cool nights. Vines enduring these conditions produce vibrant, intensely flavoured wine with a distinctive mineral character.
Distinctive to the Awatere Valley crushed thyme aromas with hints of wet stone are present on the nose. Complimented with mineral and more traditional tropical characters such as guava and passionfruit. These aromas follow on to the palate which is intense with flavours of passionfruit and lively citrus with a crisp elegant finish.
Yellowglen Winery, Established in 1971, has produced a premium vintage range of sparkling wines that dates back to 2000. Yellowglen Vintage Pinot Noir Chardonnay, (affectionately known as 'PNC') is one of the winery's original vintage sparkling wines.
Lively aromas of cashew nuts and rich bread dough are evident on the nose with hints of strawberry Pinot Noir character. A fine but persistent bead complements these rich flavours. Yellowglen Vintage Pinot Noir Chardonnay is full flavoured, complex and well structured yet elegant and creamy in the mouth. It has a crisp and dry finish of excellent length.
Lifted varietal mint and black currant aromas combine beautifully with subtle nutmeg oak characters. Cassis and mulberry fruit flavours drives this medium-bodied wine that also has a delightful balance of cedary oak. Juicy black fruit flavours finish beautifully on the back palate with fine tannins.
