Maturation 12 Months in new (20%) and aged (80%) French hogsheads. The changeover from American to French oak was progressive; it began in 1979 and was completed by 1983 vintage.

Deep red-purple.  Blueberry/dark chocolate/briary/vanilla aromas with touches of mint/herb.  Rich, ripe, concentrated wine with blueberry/dark choco-mint flavours and loose-knit tannins.  Builds up leafy at the finish.  You can drink it now but its best lies ahead.
