Compared to 2006 and 2007, 2008 was a cooler and wetter vintage. However, careful vineyard management has ensured that the flavour intensity has been preserved, along with the advantages of a more even ripening.
Vineyard parcels were harvested at ripe levels and the vines machine harvested at night in cooler conditions to retain fruit freshness. Selected yeasts were chosen to enhance aromas and ensure fruity esters in the wine. The wine is fermented exclusively in stainless steel in small parcels at a low temperature to preserve fruit aromatics and flavours. Once fermented, the parcels are then blended together in a manner that creates the distinctive aromatic profile and palate structure of Amberley Chenin Blanc.
Brilliant and bright, the wine is pale straw in colour with green tinges. Highly aromatic, the nose displays the classic characteristics of cut grass, lime leaf and lemongrass.
Premium parcels of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc were selected From Amberley Estate vineyards in Margaret River and machine harvested in the cool of night to maximise fruit freshness. Gentle handling in the winery ensured the bright, vibrant fruit flavours were retained.
The Annie's Lane Riesling is light straw in colour with lime hues. The nose offers citrus and floral aromas of lemon pith and jasmine. The juicy palate is balanced by mouth watering acidity. This wine is light to medium bodied with pure Clare Valley Riesling characteristics - lemon, lime, talc and lavender flavours.
Drinking wonderfully now, it will become more complex with careful cellaring.
The Annies Lane Chardonnay fruit parcels were harvested during the cool of the night to retain freshness. After fermentation, the individual parcels were kept separate until blending and matured on lees to build texture and mouthfeel. Stronger fruit parcels were fermented and matured in new and seasoned French oak barrels.
Medium straw in colour, this wine displays intense aromas of spice, fresh white peach and preserved lemon. Toasty oak with a hint of buttery richness will feature in the wine whilst it is young.
This Chardonnay exhibits a smooth, delicate palate with a mineral lemony acidity, and also shows flavours of stone fruit and grapefruit, interplaying on the palate with creamy toast characters. The wine is integrated and seamless with a crisp acid finish which gives a juicy character to the wine.
