Hi Hugeman, It is true that our everyday prices are really making our customers happy. The term "bottle shock" refers to wine that has been bottled (normally the new vintage) and has been sent out to market. The bottling process and then the travelling component mean the wine has been under lots of stress and it shows with a variable tasting result. The wine just needs a bit more time to "rest" before it is ready for consumption.

Dear Dave, I have heard the term "bottle shock" a lot recently - is it the feeling you get when you see your low prices on website or is it something else? I'm sure you would have the heads up on this one you propeller head!

Winemaking - is the transformation of the juice of a grape, the sugar in it being converted to alcohol. The juice will also include acids, flavours and other small amounts of natural compounds. Water is of course the major constituent. The shins and in some cases the stalks also have their roles to play. This sounds too simple and makes me wonder why we pay winemakers the big bucks!!

Phylloxera - An insect or aphid that feeds on the roots of the vine causing the sap to drain out through the roots, killing the vine. A crucial factor in the development of modern viticulture due to the wholesale destruction of European vineyards in the second half of the nineteenth century. A nasty little fellow that changed the wine industry.

Hi Kaine, You have obviously been consumed by the "Twilight" series of movies!! It is rumoured that when Bella Swan and Edward Cullen have a glass of wine with their meal it has to be Austrian (not from Western Australia....which is surprising given the surnames of Swan and Cullen!!!!). The organic grapes (red, naturally!) must have been hand picked by a group of Vampires (obviously at full moon) as the planets align with the stars on the second Tuesday of harvest. They must then be crushed and bottled at Rudolf Steiner's facility for immediate consumption (by the now 18 year old Swan and Cullen). I think this has covered all angles for your dinner conversation and you will not only sound like a wine connoisseur, you will also sound like David (minus the Margaret!!) on the movie front!! Cheers. Dave
