Traditionally Sparkling wine is made with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. But in New Zealand they have recently been playing around with Sparkling Wines and started using Sauvignon Blanc.

The grapes are hand-picked and whole bunch pressed in the Brancott Winery Coquard press to extract juice in the gentlest manner, yielding juice with elegance and finesse. Grapes from all the vineyard blocks and varieties are kept separate until they are blended prior to the second fermentation. This blending stage is the most importantstep in the méthode traditionnelle process. Yeast and a small amount of sugar are added to the final blend and the wine is bottled. Second fermentation lasts for about six weeks, occurring in temperature controlled warehouses. Deutz Marlborough Cuvée is aged on lees for a minimum of two to three years to impart toasty yeast flavours.
Fresh, bright, lifted nose with toasty notes. The palate shows strawberry and lemon with rich yeast flavours. Elegant and well balanced with a long, lingering after taste.
