A lot of Margaret River wineries use Sauvignon Blanc, blended with Semillon which creates a perfect partnership and fuller palate style.
Vintage: Aside from November which saw more rain than usual Tatachilla vineyards experienced a balanced ripening season. Vintage started in the first week of February, slightly earlier than average. As a result of warm days and cool nights the fruit ripened slowly and evenly. The perfect set up for Growers as a wine focused and balanced with low alcohol. Flavours came earlier than sugar ripeness, especially with the Sauvignon Blanc which was the first variety to be picked this year.
Vineyards: Grapes were sourced from a selection of South Australian vineyards.
Vinification: The grapes for this wine were carefully crushed and pressed. Cold settling left the juice very crisp and clear with cold fermentation at 14°C providing the intense primary aromas characteristic to Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon.
Blend: 65 % Sauvignon Blanc, 30% Semillon, 5% Riesling
Colour: Pale straw with green hues.
Bouquet: Grassy, passionfruit characters of Sauvignon Blanc matched seamlessly with the vibrant tropical fruit aromas of Semillon with a hint of lemon/lime coming from a small amount of Riesling.
Palate: A refreshing wine bursting with crisp, refreshing tropical and grapefruit flavours with a subtle hint of lemongrass. The touch of Riesling further enhances the length and persistence of the palate.
Serving: This fresh easy drinking style can be enjoyed on its own or with a wide variety of foods including grilled calamari or light dishes such as steamed mussels with tomatoes and garlic and barbecued chicken. It is also the perfect summer aperitif.
