The growing season for the 2010 harvest began well with good winter and spring rainfall during 2009. This meant that the vines were able to produce healthy canopies that provided the grapes protection from the sun, getting them through the inevitable hot weather during January. February and March were mild and even, with very little rain, meaning the Riesling grapes were harvested in pristine condition and full of flavour.

Fruit for the Yalumba Y Series Riesling 2010 is sourced from our traditional grower base in the Barossa region. Over many years, these vines have delivered consistently excellent Riesling grapes from a variety of soil types across the district. Gentle processing of the grapes, and the use of only the clearest juice, followed by a cool and even fermentation, ensured the fresh flavours of the variety are preserved in the final wine.

A pale straw with green tinges, the Yalumba Y Series Riesling 2010 is a light to medium bodied style of wine. Aromas of fresh apple blossom and grapefruit are complemented by subtle hints of cinnamon, paw paw and lavender. The fine palate shows flavours of lemons, lime peel and grapefruit. The light body of the wine is enhanced by a juicy acidity and fruit-tingle-like persistence. A wine to enjoy with simple flavours, such as grilled whiting accompanied by a squeeze of lemon. Suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
