The growing season for the 2010 harvest began well with good winter and spring rainfall during 2009. This meant the vines were able to produce healthy canopies that provided the grapes protection from the sun to get them through the inevitable hot weather during January. February and March were mild and even, with very little rain, meaning the Sauvignon Blanc grapes were harvested in pristine condition and full of flavour.

The Yalumba Y Series Sauvignon Blanc is given 12 hours skin maceration prior to draining and pressing. Juices are cold settled then fermented while cool, using an aromatic yeast to retain and enhance fresh crisp varietal character. Finished wines are then left on light lees until blending in May.

The Yalumba Y Series Sauvignon Blanc 2010 is pale green in colour and gives the impression of freshness right from the very start. The aromas are characterised by pineapple and lime sorbet, freshly cut grass and hints of wet stones. The palate is light bodied and framed by crunchy green apple acidity – a hallmark of this variety. Fine, clean and persistent in the mouth. A lovely match with mussels steamed in white wine and garlic. Suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
